Game Developer Exchange (2010) – Virtual Worlds Challenges

gdx 2010 | virtual worlds, real design challenges

The Game Developer Exchange is an event held in Savannah by SCAD. It gathers game professionals from top companies, such as Blizzard, Activision or Ubisoft.

I was invited to give a presentation to their audience composed of professionals and students on the design challenges that go into building virtual worlds.

I made a quick timeline of how virtual worlds changed over the last decades, gave a few tips and tricks on how to build better art, design better levels and quests for these worlds, and ended the presentation opening up on how the new mobile technologies where going to impact design and game mechanics.
